Harmony Tai Chi Qigong Harmony has a very busy calendar of events in 2008. These are listed in the Events section of the website.
Harmony will start a membership in January 2008. A membership form, which contains further details, is available for download in the Documents section. At the moment there is no Junior section, but it is hoped to introduce this later in the year, following a growing interest in promoting T’ai Chi Qigong in schools, particularly for juniors. Family learning classes are also being considered, so that children may learn alongside their parents.
There will be at least five full day workshops in the coming year and a new monthly class for Harmony members will start in January on Sunday mornings. Preceding these monthly Members classes will be an hour long “Early Birds” class. A summer class is again planned for 2008, so students can continue with their T’ai Chi Qigong practice during the long break. The venue and other details have yet to be arranged.
A grading was held in October this year in which fourteen students took part. They received new sashes and certificates as follows:
From White to Yellow sash – Pat and Angie Hudson, Margaret Dixon, Morya Hufton, Carol Bustard, Ann King, Ann Levett and Julia Bewley.
From Green to Blue sash, Adam Purdy, Mark Lowe and Lindsay Meek.
From Purple to Red, Heather Arbon and Susan. Michael Forster gained his second Wu certificate.
There will be two opportunities for students to grade in 2008. These gradings will take place in March and October.
The next residential weekend at Unstone Grange, Chesterfield, has been booked for 2009, a little earlier in the year when the weather may be warmer. A workshop will be taught over the two days, and perhaps it will be possible to practice it in the grounds next to the house, weather permitting.
Harmony has now produced its first DVD as an aid to practising the forms in the grading syllabus. Copies of the first DVD are available to purchase at all our lessons. A percentage of the sales will benefit the further development of Harmony Tai Chi. Three further DVDs containing more advanced movements and forms will be available shortly. When time permits, it is hoped to produce other DVDs of movements which are popular with the students.
The new three year instructor training course will begin in January as the level of interest response from students has been very good. In all, ten students have joined the course. It will be the third instructor course which Sikung Box has taught. It is very gratifying to see the trained instructors spreading the information about the benefits of T’ai Chi and Qigong to more people.
The second instructor training course, which started in 2006, enters its final year. The trainee instructors will have three residential weekends and also a week’s training in Crete.
